I hate those lists.
Denim is personal.
Like most things in fashion, so much depends on personal preference, personal style, and personal body shape. To me, denim is the most classically, all-American piece of clothing you can wear, so why limit yourself to just one trending style?
Me? I love my skinnies when it's cold and I want to layer them under my boots. I love my bootcut and flares when the snow melts and paired with sky high heels. I love a boyfriend style with wedges or strappy sandals in the warmer months. I know the shapes and styles that fit with my personality and personal style and I stick with those, regardless of whether or not they are "trending."
My advice: ignore the "it" list and wear what suits you. Because wearing what you like is always on trend.
