When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. Not because I was good at science (I wasn't), but because I loved animals. In fact, I loved them so much, when I was thirteen, I made a grand declaration that I would no longer be eating meat. And I didn't for ten years.
But then I graduated from college and my love of fashion truly emerged. And at some point during this time, I realized the hypocrisy in refusing to eat meat but having no problem wearing it.
(This is the point in the story where most animal loving vegetarians vow never to wear leather or fur again- that, however, is not my story).
I decided, instead of giving up leather, I'd give up vegetarianism.
As it turns out, my love of ridiculously luxurious clothes and the perfect pair of boots outweighed my love of animals.
Shameful, I know.
